Red Bull Midnight Run is a grassroots basketball competition with events in nine cities across the US with the goal of settling the long-standing debate: Which city produces the best basketball players? The top 100 players, which consist of D-leaguers, street ballers, former college standouts, overseas players, and more, from each buzzing metropolitan will compete against each other for the chance to rep their city in the final ultimate bragging rights battle. The eight best players from DC, Atlanta, Chicago, NYC, LA, Philly, Indianapolis, Houston and Nola will go on to represent in an epic final in the latest focal point of basketball — the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

"It's going to be an exciting summer of basketball," said 2010 number one overall pick and star point guard John Wall. "This competition has guys that are going to battle it out in order to represent their city. There's a lot of respect for those guys who advance, so they're going to play hard to earn a spot on the final roster."

The events are traditional 5-on-5 pickup-game format with games to 11 points or seven minutes (whichever comes first), with one and two-point baskets. Wall, members from industry publication and Red Bull Midnight Run partner DIME Magazine, local city league organizers, among others, will collaborate in scouting and selecting players to represent their city in the finals.

The 2013 edition of the grassroots basketball event will run from June through the fall. Current regional events are scheduled for June 1 in Washington, D.C., June 15 in Atlanta, June 22 in Chicago, July 13 in Philadelphia, July 27 in Houston, August 2 in New Orleans, and August 9 in Indianapolis (dates subject to change).
